Garden Design Consultation
This service is recommended for when the client requires a Planting Plan, Landscape Concept Design and/or garden restoration work. This is the initial consultation during which certain information will be gathered from the client and the site, such as:
- The client’s requirements/likes/dislikes/garden style preferences etc.
- Site analysis (solar aspect, topography, views, boundaries, services, earthworks, location of buildings on the site & significant trees etc).
- What plants should be retained or removed
- Soil texture analysis and soil pH testing
- A follow up email will be sent to the client after the consultation with the recommended plant selection for the garden as well as a summary of horticultural recommendations discussed.
- Once the scope of works is established, a quotation will be provided to the client for the restoration work and/or planting plan or landscape concept design.
Planting Plan
The Planting Plan is a computer generated plan, to scale, of either existing garden beds or proposed new garden beds with the proposed new planting scheme that may or may not incorporate existing plants and trees. Plant species are positioned on the plan and either labelled in plan or listed separately in a plant schedule, with information included such as plant description, photos, mature size, quantities and pot sizes if required. The client can choose how much detail is to be included in the plan or plant schedule, therefore they can tailor the plan to suit their budget. Areas such as existing entertainment areas, decks or lawn are indicated on the planting plan if relevant, however there are no site levels or proposed structural landscaping elements included in a planting plan. A planting plan suits those who have existing garden beds in place and wish to undertake the planting themselves, or alternatively the plan can be given to a landscape contractor to install. A planting plan may or may not be required for garden restoration work.
Landscape Concept Design
A Landscape Concept Design is a computer generated design, to scale, that includes not only a detailed planting scheme and plant schedule but also proposed structural landscaping elements such as new garden beds, decks, paving, pathways, driveways, retaining walls etc. Depending on the client’s budget and plan for the garden as well as what existing site plans are available for the property, the Landscape Concept Design can but does not have to include site levels. The concept design can be just that…a design concept indicating the position of proposed structural elements and materials to be used or it can also go that step further and include details such as site levels, lighting design, irrigation and drainage. The cost of the design will depend on the amount of detail required by the client. Depending on the extent of structural elements, the topography of the site and the level of detail required in the design, there may be the need to arrange an additional survey of the site and consult with third parties such as hydraulics engineers and arborists who come at an additional cost.
Three Bees Garden Design will always aim to keep the structural elements of the Landscape Design Concept within the parameters of what is considered exempt or complying development with the relevant local Council. Should the site and design call for structural elements that require a Development Application (DA) with Council then further, more detailed drawings and documentation will be required. Three Bees Garden Design does not provide DA documentation but we can recommend and/or work with professionals who specialise in preparing this documentation.
